THE SUNSHINE FARM Job Title: Farm Market Manager
Reports to: Sunshine Farm Business Manager
Overall Responsibility Profitably operate and expand the Sunshine Farm Market. Working with market staff and on-farm/local growers, create a clean, attractive shopping environment filled with quality food and gift products. Educate customers through market-based signs, brochures, and other media. Organize and lead a market staff dedicated to the Sunshine Farm as a center for local food and community.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Hire and manage market staff and set a high example of retail service, productivity, cleanliness and organization throughout the market
- Profitably price and manage inventory of food and gift products; create attractive merchandise displays with clear and consistent signage
- Design and implement new product lines and enterprises to increase market sales and profitability including cross-merchandising with Tunnel Hill Winery, development of holiday gift box sales, and other efforts.
- Expand in-market educational efforts to emphasize the Sunshine Farm’s “Food with a Face” theme and the benefits of eating local food.
- Work in partnership with other farm members to update and maintain an inviting and accurate Sunshine Farm web site.
- Track sales data, keep clear and accurate financial records, assist in market bookwork, provide regular sales reports to SF Business Manager.

Term of employment April – November/December Part-time in shoulder seasons Full-time plus in summer season
Qualifications
- Passion for food, wine, and local economies.
- Strong entrepreneurial sense and dedication to customer service.
- Proven retail supervisory and leadership abilities.
- Good organizational skills; strong merchandising, display, and sign making abilities; “an eye for beauty”
- Proficient with Word, Excel, and graphic layout programs
- Able to lift 25 lbs
- Experience with farmer’s markets and/or produce business helpful.
Compensation $10-14/hour DOE Profit sharing bonus based on net profit (calculated after deducting labor and product expenses)
