Daily Meditation

I would like to share a personal vision for this land.  This vision springs forth from my need for balance and groundedness in my life.

Below I have spelled out a vision of meditation that helps me meet this need.  The creative soul needs the presence of an integrative force, a force that gathers the multitude of sounds, images, and other sensations of the day and allows them to settle, like sediment falling to the bottom of a pond, so that clarity and stillness emerge.

In my own life, chaos reigns if such a countering force is not present amidst the ideas and projects of the day.  I long for more stillness and clarity, less chaos.  I also long for a community of meditators who share my need for balance and groundedness.

I offer this vision in full recognition of the diversity of spiritual paths.  Some may be more attracted to a mountain top or fishing boat for stillness (while even others may have plenty of stillness and need a little creative fire!).  Out of this range of dispositions and person-hoods, I reach out to those for whom meditation is a useful and valuable practice.   

VISION:  ON-FARM MEDITATION

I live on the farm with community members who meditate in the mornings and evenings.  We recognize the importance of knowing our minds.  We recognize that such knowledge of the mind paves the way for greater relational ease with others as well as ourselves. 

We recognize that the art of meditation can be practiced in many forms.  We value this diversity and hold a simple and neutral form of mediation that accommodates a multitude of practice traditions. 

We also recognize the slow and subtle transformation brought about by meditation.  We practice regularly and diligently to bring about this transformation as well as to bring greater peace to our beings and greater understanding to our minds.

The fruits of meditation - wisdom and compassion - feed us and encourage us along out paths, and the stillness of meditation waters the land of this farm.  Visitors who enter the farm experience this energy and take a greater peace with them into the world.
