The Sunshine Farm sits on the shores of Lake Chelan, the third deepest body of water in the United States, in north central Washington State. Our climate is continental with hot summers and snowy, cold winters.
As a farm, we are dedicated to supplying the North Central Washington region with the best in local fruits, vegetables, wine, and other artisan products. We work cooperatively as a collection of individually held small businesses. Guy and Denny Evans own the land and tend the tree-fruit, wine grape, winery, and farm market operations. Rachel Airmet leases four acres on the farm and produces our organic vegetables and CSA program through her business, Sunshine Organics. Janna Berger operates the Living Stems cut flower business, supplying the Farm Market and local businesses with beautiful, seasonal arrangements. Future additions to the farm could include an artisan cheese producer and a grass-fed livestock producer.
These efforts to preserve local agriculture take place on 94 acres of prime development land. An innovative mixed-use development project aims to ease these development pressures while preserving over half of the farm in productive acreage. The development will include an equity-limited cohousing neighborhood designed to provide affordable home ownership for farm partners and core employees. It will also include the Sunshine Institute of Culture and Agriculture, a learning center dedicated to nurturing health, compassion, and creativity in its visitors and staff.
Our roadside Farm Market is open May to October, our Winery, year round. We love to show off the farm anytime of the year. Please contact us when you next visit Lake Chelan! |
