We've been farming for four generations in the Lake Chelan valley. Great-grandpa Ray arrived here in 1899 at the age of 18. He planted the first apricot and apple orchard with great-grandma Annie.
After World War II, Grandpa and Grandma bought into the operation, and in the seventies, Dad and Mom took the reins. Now Guy has visions of transforming the farm into a viable operation for the next generation.
Guy's Emmy-nominated PBS documentary, Broken Limbs, highlights the challenges that faced his dad in farming. To make it in the globalized 21st century, the family has decided to diversify and focus on direct market sales.
Some residential development will be woven into the property in clustered pockets. This will preserve the greenspace of the farm and its fertile, food-producing soils.
